Thursday and Friday
12-13 September 2013
After Cinque Terre we took a long bus ride to Venice. We had to move all of our stuff back and forth over teeny bridges because Venice in Italian means maze (not really, but really). When we got to the street our hotel was on, we realized that Venice goes to bed pretty early and got a little embarrassed when a man opened his window and told us to be quiet. As per usual, there was some mistake with our reservations so we had to sit outside on the street while we waited and prayed for everything to get resolved. Fortunately we got into the hotel, unfortunately by the time we actually got our rooms it was past midnight and everyone was not in good spirits. Fortunately by some happy mistake I got my own room, unfortunately the door wouldn't lock at night. In the end it all worked out though, just was proof that traveling was getting a little hard to handle.
I'm realizing now how behind I am on my trip because it's October and I haven't even blogged about France. So to quickly summarize, Venice is a cute, romantic place with not much to do. You could go to Venice for a day and have seen all there is to see. Navigating is really hard and confusing, there are bridges everywhere, you can eat gelato and pizza.
Some things I saw and did in Venice: saw a couple take wedding pictures in the middle of a piazza, saw lots of old tourists because they like to travel in September to avoid crowds, had a girl-time bonding session over pizza and gelato, went to a museum and saw some good art, went to a church with my professors family and saw more art, got my last Italian gelato. The end.
This is basically what Venice looks like (I was standing on a bridge).
Always gelato.
Cute bridge in Venice.
More gelato...
A museum we went to.
Italy gave me grey hair.
